Those community members who managed to attend the Howitt Society’s public meeting yesterday in Mallacoota couldn’t fail to come away with a better understanding of the role fuel plays in the severity of bushfires and the impact of this on communities and the overall health of the environment, thanks to the great generosity and knowledge of world-renowned forest fire expert Dr Kevin Tolhurst, Associate Professor in Fire Ecology and Management in the Department of Forest and Ecosystem Science, University of Melbourne.

Very sadly Dr Tolhurst passed away shortly after his presentation in Mallacoota yesterday and our sincere condolences go to his family and friends.
